Run C, with the magnetic field set to +1.5T, is designed to be a high
sensitivity search for strangelets with Z/A in the range .1 to .3 and to
measure the yields of positive nuclei with . This run
also will be sensitive to the
composite. Table
summarizes the systems studied in Run C.
Adding the late energy requirement to the trigger will allow us to run at
the full beam rate with a 20% target. If the trigger rate is as high as 4000 per
beam spill this will give a 20% deadtime. From Table
the tracking efficiency times acceptance for strangelets is about 10%. For a 1200
hour run this will give a sensitivity of one event per:
This gives a 90% confidence level of of all
interactions.
